The story behind Momsukali

A little sweetness, a lot of love.

I’m Sephora, a French woman of Congolese heritage, a wife, a mum and the person behind Momsukali.

Originally from Roissy-en-Brie, France, I grew up loving homemade food, baking and meals shared with family and friends. For me, cooking has always been a way to show love and bring people together.

What’s in a name?

Momsukali brings together motherhood and my Congolese roots. “Mom” represents the mother in me, while “sukali” means “sugar” in Lingala.

Together, they capture the sweetness, warmth and care I want to share through everything I make.

A taste of home, handmade in Ireland.

When I moved to Ireland, I missed the flavours and traditional treats that reminded me of home. I wanted to share them with the people around me. That’s how Momsukali began.

At its heart are mikate, Congolese doughnuts enjoyed plain or with your favourite toppings. I make them by hand in Mallow, alongside mini waffles and refreshing drinks.

They’re made for family gatherings, celebrations, weekends with friends and those quiet moments when you fancy a little treat.

Made with love, meant to be shared.

Through Momsukali, I hope to share a little of my story and my culture with you.

Whether you’re discovering mikate for the first time or enjoying a familiar favourite, I hope every box brings a little joy to your table.

Welcome to Momsukali.
